Show-Drumfanfare Molenberg have made a name for themselves, nationally and internationally and have also earned a place in today’s world of music. Show-Drumfanfare Molenberg are famous for their very professional and popular arrangements and not only perform in the Netherlands, but also in Belgium, Germany and France. They are often invited to take part in street parades and tattoos.

A successful repertoire

Our band has earned the title of Limburgian and Dutch champion several times, since its establishment about fifty years ago. We often participate in league competitions to measure our musical performances with others. At this moment we are in the first division section D of the Limburgian league for drum bands. Our repertoire mainly consists of easy listening music.

For the show we use arrangements and compilations in a popular style, for the look of things. We have also build up a repertoire, which consists of modern, more sensitive music. We keep this at hand in case we are asked to perform at concerts or listening events. Which happens quite often.

Heading in a new direction

At the beginning we were a clarion corps. But in the seventies, when drum bands became more and more popular, we decided to make the switch to this new kind of music. Which meant that we had to change from clarions to valve instruments. A drastic change that turned out to be a change for the better.

Our setting is typical for a drum band. At one hand we have a percussion group with cymbals, tenor drums and drummers and on the other hand the brass section with trumpets, bugles, horns, trombones, tubas and sousaphones. This together forms a complete harmonious group. Our band rehearses twice a week under the guidance of the director and drum major. We work hard to keep up our high musical level. The rehearsals are often combined with practising the show under supervision of a choreographer. To please both eye and ear we always take a certain musical theme as a starting- point.
